Our 6-hour Paediatric First Aid course provides learners with the practical skills and confidence to respond to first aid emergencies involving babies and children. The course includes practical training in CPR, choking and the management of common childhood injuries and emergencies.Training is delivered face-to-face at your workplace for groups of up to 12 learners, with courses available across the UK.

Paediatric First Aid training is suitable for people who care for or work with babies and children, including nursery staff, childcare workers, school staff, childminders, carers and other professionals with responsibility for children.The course is also suitable for organisations that want staff to develop practical confidence in responding to common first aid emergencies involving infants and children.

How is the Paediatric First Aid course assessed?
Learners are assessed throughout the course through practical demonstrations, tutor questioning and knowledge checks. Practical skills including infant and child CPR, use of an AED, recovery position and management of choking are assessed through observation by the trainer.
Paediatric First Aid certificate and validity
Learners who successfully complete the course will receive a Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for 3 years. Refresher training is recommended to help learners maintain their knowledge, confidence and practical first aid skills.
Paediatric First Aid training at your workplace
We deliver Paediatric First Aid training at your premises, allowing your team to learn together in a familiar workplace environment. Our trainers bring the equipment needed for the practical session, including infant and child CPR manikins and AED training equipment.You will need to provide a suitable room with enough space for learners to take part safely in the practical activities. We can discuss any specific requirements with you before the training date.
Prerequisites for Paediatric First Aid training
No previous Paediatric First Aid experience is required. Learners should be able to understand the course content and participate safely in the practical activities, including CPR and casualty-positioning exercises. Reasonable adjustments can be considered where required, provided they do not compromise the assessment requirements or the learner’s ability to demonstrate the required first aid skills safely.
